Let’s Trade

(1972-1982)
In 1972, Honeywell Enterprises was born in a bold move that formalised Oba Otudeko's food trading operations in West Africa. Our high-quality products, ranging from baking yeast, milk, and stock fish to glass and steel rods, were sourced from across the globe.
As the 1980s dawned, so did Honeywell Enterprises' era of growth and expansion. Our spirit of innovation sparked our diversification into the production sector with our new businesses, Poly Ventures Limited and Coral Products, manufacturing polypropylene sacks and crockery, respectively. We also made a strategic entry into cocoa exports, then a primary foreign exchange earner for Nigeria.

A Gateway to Bolder Ventures

(1983-1992)
In our second decade, our reputation for excellence paved the way for strategic partnerships. Honeywell Enterprises and the Ogun State Government established Gateway Honeywell Flour Mills in 1985. This Honeywell decade was marked by ventures into new territories, with the formation of Honeywell Fisheries Limited, Honeywell Construction Limited, and Pivot Engineering Company. Notably, our launch of Pavilion Technology reflected our foresight in identifying and adopting emerging trends in the security tech sector. By 1992, we had significantly expanded our reach, providing essential services from food to infrastructure and security.

Exponential Growth Across Frontiers

(1993-2002)
1993 marked a pivotal chapter as we relocated our headquarters from Oyo to Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub. Two years later, we rebranded our flour milling company into Honeywell Flour Mills Limited, then bolstered its operations by commissioning a 200MT/day milling plant. We also entered the energy sector with the 1995 creation of Honeywell Oil & Gas Limited (now HOGL Energy), expanded with a massive 23,000 metric tonne tank farm and established Broadview Engineering.
In 2001, we played a pivotal role in Nigeria's telecommunications revolution as part of a consortium that launched Nigeria's first GSM operator, Econet Wireless (now Airtel), with Oba Otudeko as Chairman of the Econet Board. Indeed, our third decade testifies to our commitment to strategic growth and industry leadership.

Consolidating Core Businesses

(2003-2012)
At the turn of the new millennium, our portfolio companies achieved great strides, starting when Pivot Engineering Company Limited (PECL) delivered Project OAY (Owerri-Ahoada-Yenagoa) to connect Bayelsa State to the National Grid in 2003.
PECL and USA-based GIS Inc jointly established Pivot GIS, an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management firm, in 2004. That same year, we founded Telecgsm, which quickly became West Africa's largest mobile phone distributor, and in 2008 we set up Uraga Real Estate to consolidate our real estate operations.

Next, we achieved a milestone by listing Honeywell Flour Mills on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2009. Honeywell concluded its fourth decade with full ownership of Pivot GIS, Broadview Engineering's involvement in the Trans-Niger Pipeline Loop Project, and our entry into the hospitality industry with the launch of Radisson Blu Anchorage, West Africa's first Radisson hotel.

Strategic Transformations for Sustained Impact

(2013-2022)
Transitioning into our half-century mark, Honeywell Group navigated transformational shifts. In 2013, we executed a calculated divestment of our holdings in Airtel Nigeria, refocusing our efforts on ground-breaking projects like the operation and maintenance of Nigeria's Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) plant by Pivot GIS—the largest maintenance contract by a local firm. We further consolidated our foothold in the energy sector with a 2014 joint venture, Rosetti Pivot, and Broadview Engineering's 2016 acquisition of Shoreline Logistics.
Beyond Energy, Uraga Real Estate made a mark by opening Upbeat Recreation Centre, West Africa's first trampoline park, in 2017. Honeywell also expanded its footprint to venture capitalism by creating Itanna in 2018. Our fifth decade ended with the strategic sale of our equity in Honeywell Flour Mills as we affirmed our ability to adapt and make impactful business decisions that sustain our growth and societal impact.
